Engine Valve
The engine valves allow air to enter the engine cylinders, as well as exhaust to expel out. Air is needed within the engine system to mix with the fuel and create the internal combustion that allows the engine to operate. Each engine cylinder will have at least one engine valve.
Signs of a bad engine valve
- Engine misfires
- Excessive oil consumption
Engine valve maintenance
Issues with engine valves can cause poor engine performance and issues with overheating. Get your car inspected by a car care professional right away as soon as you suspect any issues with the engine valves. The valves can often be replaced individually – when doing so, the cylinder head should be inspected as well to ensure no additional issues are present. Ask your car care professional if any fuel system additives are recommended to maintain the health of the engine valves.
